Aloha my ohana,

I am writing to you today with an update regarding your fire case. I want to acknowledge again how much you have been carrying through this long wait. I know the waiting has taken a real toll. I know this is not just something you can set down at the end of the day. You live with this every day. It is your home, your stability, your future.

It is for this reason that I wanted to make sure you see this before the weekend. We have our Town Hall coming up this Monday, March 2nd, at the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa in Lahaina at 2605 Kaanapali Pkwy. I will be on island and I really want to see you there if you can make it. This meeting is not mandatory. It is simply to provide you with an update and to answer any questions you may have.

We will be holding three in person sessions, and you can choose the one that fits your day best. The times are 10 AM to 12 PM, 2 PM to 4 PM, and 6 PM to 8 PM. Light food and beverages will be provided, and free valet parking will be available for all attendees.

We will discuss where things stand with the insurance negotiations and what we are seeing in terms of potential timelines for funding. As I shared last week, we finally had a bit of a breakthrough with one of the subrogation carriers that could help move the funding forward. The details are still being worked out, but it is the first real movement we have felt in a long time since putting together the settlement of more than four billion dollars. We are pushing hard to keep that momentum going and to keep these subrogation insurers from interfering with what was meant for Maui families.

If you are unable to make one of the in person Town Halls, we will also be holding a virtual Town Hall on Wednesday, March 4th at 10 AM Maui time. We will send the link out next week before the virtual meeting so you have everything you need to join.

I know not everyone can drop what they are doing and come in person, especially with everything still unsettled in daily life. But if you are able to come on Monday, I would really encourage you to show up. I want you to leave with clarity on what is happening and what comes next.

Mahalo for your patience and your strength. Maui is strong. You are not alone in this, and we will keep pushing until the resources meant for you reach you.

Mahalo and Aloha,

Andrew Van Arsdale
