Aloha,
I wanted to reach out with this week’s update and share something especially important. Your claim is already in the system and moving forward as it should. This message is about the people in your life who may still be on the fence or haven’t yet filed a claim at all.
The deadline to file is almost here. It’s set for Thursday, July 31st at 1PM Hawaii time. After that moment, no new claims can be submitted. That’s a hard cutoff, and once it passes, folks who haven’t filed will most likely be pushed into the class action track instead. I want to be real with you about what that means. The class action fund has 125 million dollars total. The general trust, where your claim is, has over 4 billion. That is not a small difference. It could be life changing for families, and it all depends on whether or not they take action in time.
Additionally, and this is crucial, please understand that each and every family member who was impacted by the fires needs to file their own individual claim. This is essential because each person’s experiences and damages are unique. Family members cannot be included automatically on someone else’s claim, even if they lived together or experienced similar impacts. If you have family members affected, please encourage them to reach out to us directly at (844)-422-0433 to get their own claims started.
So if you know someone who was affected by the fires and hasn’t started their claim yet, please tell them this is their last chance. Even if they aren’t sure they qualify or think they missed their window, they should reach out to us right away. We’ll walk them through it and do everything we can to help, but we need to hear from them before that deadline hits.
As for you, thank you for the effort and time many of you have already put into your questionnaires. We are reviewing each one carefully. The stories you’ve shared are being heard and treated with the respect they deserve. We are focused on making sure the impact on your life is fully seen and accounted for.
This process continues to take strength and patience, and I know how much you’ve already carried. But we’re not backing down. We’re here, and we’re going to keep showing up until your voice is fully heard.
If you have questions or want to talk something through, just reply to this message or email me directly at Andrew@avalaw.com. We’re available and ready to help however you need.
Mahalo,
Andrew Van Arsdale
