Aloha my Ohana,
I hope this message finds you and your Ohana safe and well. I wanted to take a moment to reiterate the important update we shared on Wednesday in case you missed it. If you haven’t already, I strongly encourage you to watch this full video for all the details:
On Wednesday, we shared some truly great news—class counsel has backed down from their attempt to take a massive share of the $4 billion trust. We’ve reached an agreement that limits their total share, meaning more of the settlement remains for you and others who have truly suffered. While final approval is still pending with Judge Cahill, this is a major victory in ensuring these funds go where they belong.
Next, we continue the fight before the Hawaii Supreme Court, where we are pushing back against insurance companies attempting to take billions from the trust. These insurers have already paid out claims to policyholders, and we believe they should not be allowed to double-dip and drain the fund meant for the people of Maui. Judge Cahill has already ruled against them, and we are optimistic the Supreme Court will uphold that decision.
This is an important step forward in processing your claim and securing the justice and compensation you rightfully deserve. Mahalo for your continued trust and patience—we are moving forward.
Sincerely Yours,
Andrew Van Arsdale
